The highlight of Milledgeville is the beautifully restored Old State Capitol Building where the legislative chambers were home to some of Georgia’s greatest historic debates, including the Secession Convention of 1861. The Old Capitol Building also served as the seat of government for the State of Georgia from 1807 to 1868.
