ABOUT

Located at the corner of Hancock and Jefferson Street is Sacred Heart Catholic Church. This church was built in 1874 in the Gothic Revival style. Materials from the Lafayette Hotel, which previously occupied this site, were utilized in the main body of the church. The Gothic-arched clear glass windows are said to have been salvaged from the hotel, and were used to harmonize with the Gothic architecture of the nearby Capitol. Visitors are welcome to explore the church and take in its beauty.
