A long-time favorite of locals, tourists and college students alike, Deep Roots is a lively cultural arts and music festival that brings historic downtown Milledgeville to life like nothing else. It beckons travelers from all over with an antique car show, live entertainment ranging from bluegrass to rock-and-roll, artist market, and a "LittleRoots KidZone." A day at the festival will allow you to see talent, art and products from national, regional and local individuals and businesses. The festival also plays host to an MBN sanctioned BBQ cook-off contest featuring the ever-popular People's Choice award that will draw BBQ connoisseurs from around the Southeast.
Festivities kick-off at 10 a.m. and the music pumps until midnight. This year’s festival will be headlined by Tennessee band Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, blues singer/songwriter Joanna Connor, Mt. Pilot and father-daughter duo Georgia Rae.
Downtown streets are closed, allowing festival goers to dine in their favorite establishments or try a pop-up vendor, shop the festival arts or our merchants, and dance in the street with your partner or kiddo.
Admission to the festival is an all-day pass, festival attendees may come and go throughout the day. Ticket pricing is $6 prior to festival; $8 at the door or $6 for 4 or more tickets; after 5 p.m. tickets are $15.
Named one of Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 events, winner of SFEA's Best Event 2009 and also voted Lake Oconee Living magazine's Best Event for 2010, Deep Roots is held late October each year and is sure to provide one-of-a-kind entertainment for all attendees!
Deep Roots began in 2000 and is organized by the Milledgeville Main Street Organization.
