Hometown CelebrationIn honor of Milledgeville being awarded as a Great American Main Street in 2014, Main Street, along with many community partners, is hosting a celebration to which all community members and supporters are invited. In its fourth year, the Hometown Celebration has quickly become a favorite event in Milledgeville. After many requests, the event has been moved from Fall to Spring to avoid the blistering heat and take advantage of the Georgia’s beautiful Spring weather. The event is also being held on Saturday, instead of Friday evening, allowing more time to enjoy the block party.

On Saturday, April 22 from 2 - 10 pm, the 100 block of West Hancock Street will be OPEN to pedestrians for the 4 th Annual Hometown Celebration! Bands will play throughout the day and popular lake country band, Blind Driver, will close out the evening. There will be activities the entire family can enjoy, including trolley rides courtesy of the CVB. Local groups will be out to keep the activities going and downtown businesses will have special sales going on. Be on the lookout for multiple goodie giveaways and other hometown fun too.

The crowd will gather around the stage at 4pm to recognize the success of Milledgeville-Baldwin County teams and individuals in a Champions Parade! Milledgeville-Baldwin County teams and individuals that have won a championship or placed in a competition are encouraged to contact Carlee Schulte at cschulte@milledgevillega.us to submit a request. All teams, groups or individuals interested in being honored during the Champions Parade must request participation no later than March 31st . Supporters are encouraged to come early, bring a lawn chair and enjoy the day!

Main Street is issuing a call for all interested organizations who want to provide an activity during the event while also gaining expanded reach to many community members. Interested organizations must submit a request to Amy Davis by email at adavis@milledgevillega.us or call 478.414.4014 with information about your organization and a detailed description of the activity to be provided at the event. All requests must be made no later than 5pm on March 31st . Requests will be reviewed by the Hometown Celebration Committee and notification will be given of acceptance on or before Friday April 14th .
