ABOUT

ABOUT

The Seeking Asylum photography exhibit captures Central State Hospital through the lens of Jessica Whitehead. The photographs serve as a poignant and artistic representation of the state of mental health treatment in this country and speak to the multifaceted history of the hospital itself. Seeking Asylum is a photography exhibit as well as an upcoming book, featuring photography and a short history of Central State Hospital. Lastly, Seeking Asylum contributes to the renovation of Georgia's Old Capital Heritage Center at the Depot, Inc., the future home of Baldwin County's heritage center and museum, that will feature exhibits specifically related to Central State Hospital history. Every canvas sale (and future book sale) generates a donation to this project as part of Seeking Asylum's mission to preserve Central State History. Open by appointment and select Saturday afternoons following the Central State Trolley Tour from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
