It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Milledgeville as preparations are made for the holiday season. However, the annual First Friday Tree Lighting will look a little different this year. Due to COVID-19, the event will be scaled back.
The City of Milledgeville, Fowler Flemister and Custom Signs and Designs have partnered to host the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The tree lighting will take place at 6:00pm on West Hancock Street in front of The Local Yolkal Cafe. People planning to attend the Tree Lighting are asked to wear a mask and to social distance. For people who cannot attend in person Georgia College will be filming the Tree Lighting for future viewing.
Immediately following the Tree lighting, Santa Claus will make his way by fire truck to the GMC North Gate on East Greene Street where children are invited to drop off a letter, wave to Santa and get a candy cane. This is a drive-thru event. Everyone must remain in their vehicles.
Special Thanks to REMAX United Alliance, The City of Milledgeville Public Works Department, Georgia Military College, Georgia College, Custom Signs and Designs and Fowler Flemister for making this First Friday possible!
