There’s a lot to love about Milledgeville. The historic homes, beautiful lakes and rivers, fun events and great people make our little city unique! But, our theater programs are a force to be reckoned with! With two colleges in town and tons of local Milledgevillians loving the theater business, you won’t be bored at any of their productions!

This program is a local theater troupe created for the Milledgeville residents to expand their love for the theater. With productions such as Oklahoma!, Kiss Me Kate, South Pacific, and Guys and Dolls, this troupe is full of talented people! They also put on the Haunted Trolley Tour hosted by the Convention & Visitors Bureau every October! Wondering what they have coming up soon? Starting April 1, the Milledgeville Players will be putting on a Murder Mystery called “A Deadly Incentive.” This fun night includes dinner and will have two showings, April 1 and 2. The cost to participate is $27 and tickets must be ordered in advance! While costumes aren’t required, it will definitely help set the mood of the performance. The Milledgeville Players is full of talent that is just waiting to be seen by you!

Coming off of a recent performance of Chicago, the Georgia College Department of Theater and Dance is full of talented students hoping to make it big one day! Missed this season’s performances so far? Don’t worry, you’ve still got a few things to check out! “Next Fall,” an award-winning play about commitment and faith hits the Black Box Theatre March 15-17 and 8 PM. The GC Dance Spring Concert happens April 30 at 8 PM and May 1 at 2 PM, and the Community Dance Spring Program is going on May 22 at 2 PM. The Theater Department also invites many guest artists throughout the season. Pearl Cleage is coming to Georgia College April 7-10 to present a Symposium on African Diaspora Performance as Social Change. Rounding out the season is the “24 Hour Plays” on April 9 at 8 PM. These are all performances that shouldn’t be missed!

The theater program at Baldwin High School is award-winning and has put on great shows throughout it’s history. Their big performance is happening April 28-30 and is the fun Broadway musical, Hairspray! Performances in the past have included shows like A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Grease and These Shining Lives. We can’t wait to see all of these students on Broadway one day!
