For Immediate Release: Kids Day at the Farmers' Market

It is a rare to see a pig, a cow, a bear and a bobcat all in the same place at the same time, but you will Tuesday, October 12, at the Milledgeville Marketplace Downtown Farmers' Market. Kids of all ages are welcome to come get a pat on the head or their picture taken with the mascots from Pig-in-a-Pit, Chick-fil-A, the US Forest Service and Georgia College.

Between 4:00 and 5:30 Pig, Cow, Smokey and Thunder will be walking about the marketplace.  The Civic Woman's Club of Milledgeville's Education Committee will be on hand to take photos of kids with the mascots. The Club sponsors many philanthropic projects during the year and the money raised at the market from the photos will be used for their many projects in the community.  Maria Amado Fontenot will do face painting.

As always, the Farmers' Market is the place to come for locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs, fresh baked goods, and arts and crafts. New vendors are joining the market and the diversity of products available is growing.  Bring your kids, or the kid in you, to the market Tuesday to see our local animals and local produce.

The Farmers' Market, a Main Street Project, is open every Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 pm through November. It is easy to find, just look for the colorful vendor tents set up along 200 E. Hancock St., a block from Downtown Milledgeville. Parking is available in the lower grassy lot accessed from N. Elbert St., and the city lot between the City Hall and the library.

Buying local supports local farmers and artisans. We hope to see you there.

If you are interested in participating as a vendor, applications are available online at
