For Immediate Release: Milledgeville Marketplace: Your Downtown Farmers' Market
Entertainment on June 1, 2010
The Milledgeville Marketplace Downtown Farmers' Market will come alive with music, fun, and special discounts from a variety of Milledgeville Main Street merchants on Tuesday June 1st. In addition to the wide array of local growers of produce, vendors of locally made crafts, and farmers from the region at the Farmers' Market there will be several entertaining venues.
Karla Noble-Leggat, a local artist, will demonstrate air brushing this week. She has been airbrushing for over four years. More recently she has begun airbrushing automobiles and motorcycles. She will have some helmets and shirts for sale at the market.
Actors from the upcoming "Moon over Buffalo" play presented by The Milledgeville Players, June 3 - 6, will be in costume mingling with the shoppers. Or come sit a spell in the shade of a tent and listen to their conversations.
As an added value this week, if you purchase at least $10.00 of goods from any of the vendors you will receive a free "Downtown Coupon Book" courtesy of the Milledgeville Main Street/Downtown Development Authority. Books will be limited to one per customer per vendor and will only be available while they last. These coupon books have a value exceeding $100 in discounts at many of the fine downtown merchants in Milledgeville. Come support the Farmers' Market; come support local businesses.
If you have not made it to the market yet this year, let this be the Tuesday you come join your neighbors and friends. Enjoy a scoop of homemade ice cream, delicious fresh pickles, a temporary work of body art, live performers and music while you buy fresh vegetables and shop the craft tents at the Farmers' Market.
The Market will be open every Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 pm through November. It is easy to find, just look for the colorful vendor tents set up along 200 E. Hancock St., a block from Downtown Milledgeville. Parking is readily available in the lower grassy lot accessed from N. Elbert St., the city lot between the City Hall and the library, and the new lot behind the BP gas station on Elbert street.
Buying local supports local farmers and artisans. We hope to see you there.
