March/April: Sounds of the South Music Festival10997452_890380707690066_1032501193709639810_n

A newer tradition, Sounds of the South has a lot to brag about. It’s success in Milledgeville has been great ever since it started in 2013. Entering it’s 4th year now, SOS (as it’s known by the attendees) takes over downtown for a weekend and boasts almost one hundred local indie and alternative artists from around the Southeast. Buying a weekend wristband will give you access to all bars participating in SOS and will also allow you go get some special deals. It’s also great to note that proceeds from SOS go towards Develop CSH, which is an organization helped to revitalize Central State Hospital.  While a weekend date hasn’t been announced for SOS quite yet, we can’t wait to get our food, drink, and groove on this April with SOS. See you on the dance floor! To keep up to date on what’s going on visit: https://www.facebook.com/SoundsSouth/

April 14-17: Milledgeville Film Festival859611_501317623293200_1746636950_o

Another newer tradition in Milledgeville, this one is for all you film buffs! Entering it’s third year, The Milledgeville Film Festival calls out to directors, producers and actors all over the world to submit their best, new pieces of film. The pieces are judged by a prestigious panel and then shown for an entire weekend here in Milledgeville. How cool is that! While the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony is an invite only affair, the public is welcome to come watch the films throughout the week at various locations, such as Georgia College’s Campus, The Greenway, Andalusia and even a late night thriller at Central State Hospital. If you’re a movie buff, or even just like a good thrill or laugh, the Milledgeville Film Festival is for you! To learn more visit:
