Old Governors Mansion-Milledgeville Baldwin County

The Old Governor’s Mansion is not only one of Georgia’s most historic sites, but it has a spot on the National Register of Historic Places and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. A hub for Antebellum history and culture, the building housed Georgia’s chief executive officers for over thirty years. The mansion has since been restored to the authenticity of its glory days and will be exquisitely decorated in the spirit of the holidays. Tours run all year long, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the hour, and Sundays 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the hour. To experience the mansion during the holiday season, however, is to truly be enchanted. This year’s holiday tours will take place November 21 through 25, and December 1 through 23. It’s the always beautiful and always historic tour…but with a Christmas twist. Experience it by candlelight with specialty tours on December 5, 12, and 17.

Rose Hill

Love nature and a brisk walk? Make the trip to Lockerly to stroll among the perennial greenery, fresh and bright all season long. While you’re there, pay a visit to the Rose Hill plantation home. Located on the grounds of the arboretum, the home is an antique southern gem, chock full of history and tradition that just feels fitting during the holiday season. The home will be decorated with greenery fresh from the arboretum, and a special holiday open house will be held on December 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
